How do I get more bathroom renovation work?

Short answer

Bathroom work is researched, compared and slow. Nobody picks a renovation plumber off a map in ten seconds. It is won with photographs of finished work, a real page about bathrooms, reviews that mention them, and clear answers on cost and timing.

Most plumbers get bathroom enquiries occasionally and emergencies constantly, then wonder how to flip the ratio. The answer is that the two are won in completely different ways, and the tactics that bring emergencies actively do not work here.

What the customer is actually doing

An emergency customer opens a map, glances at three businesses and presses call. Ten seconds, no reading.

A bathroom customer has been thinking about it for months. They look at pictures, probably save some. They talk to their partner about it. They look at two or three plumbers and compare properly, reading pages and looking at work. They may get quotes weeks apart.

That is a research process, and you win it with evidence rather than speed.

The four things that decide it

1. Photographs of bathrooms you have actually finished. This matters more than everything else combined. Not one photo, fifteen. Different styles, different budgets, taken properly in decent light. Somebody imagining their own bathroom needs to see yours and think that could be mine.

2. A real page about bathrooms. Not a bullet point on a services list. A page that talks about what a bathroom job involves, how long you are in the house, whether you handle tiling and electrics or bring people in, what happens about the toilet while it is out. These are the questions people genuinely worry about and almost nobody answers them.

3. Reviews that mention bathrooms. A hundred reviews about blocked drains do not reassure somebody spending fifteen thousand on a renovation. When you finish a bathroom, ask for the review then, and nudge towards mentioning the job. That one habit changes who your reviews persuade.

4. Clear answers on money and time. Not a fixed price, because no two bathrooms are alike. A realistic range and what moves it. Being vague does not keep your options open, it loses the serious people and keeps the tyre kickers.

Where the work actually comes from

Search, mostly. Bathroom fitter plus your area, bathroom renovation cost, and the long specific questions people ask while they are planning. These are low volume and high value, which is the opposite of emergency work.

Other trades. Tilers, electricians, kitchen fitters and bathroom showrooms all meet people planning bathrooms before you do. One good relationship with a showroom can be worth more than any amount of advertising.

Previous customers. Somebody whose cylinder you replaced two years ago is exactly who rings you about their bathroom, but only if they remember your name.

Why ads are usually wrong for this

Emergency ad clicks are expensive but convert fast. Bathroom clicks are expensive and convert slowly, often months later, which makes them look like failures in a report that only counts this month.

You can run ads for bathroom work and it can pay, but it needs patience and proper tracking or you will switch it off right before it starts earning. For most plumbers the organic route suits this work far better, because the research process rewards depth and depth is exactly what a good page gives you.

The shift this actually requires

Writing the bathroom page well and keeping the drains page short is a deliberate choice about what kind of business you want.

You are not refusing anything. You are giving Google far more to work with on the jobs you want, and far less on the ones you take because the diary is thin. Over a few months that changes what the phone brings you, which is a slower and more permanent fix than turning work down.

Common questions

Why do my emergency tactics not work for bathroom jobs?

Because the decision is completely different. An emergency is decided in ten seconds off a map. A bathroom is researched for weeks, compared against two or three other plumbers, and often discussed with a partner. Speed wins one, evidence wins the other.

Do I need a portfolio page?

You need photographs of finished bathrooms somewhere a customer can find them, which usually means a page of your own rather than a social feed. Fifteen good photos of your actual work beats any amount of description.

Should I put prices on a bathroom page?

Ranges, yes. Not a fixed figure, because no two bathrooms are the same, but a realistic from and a sense of what moves it. Vagueness loses you the people who were serious and keeps the ones who were not.
